You pick: Vote for your Reader’s Choice Wrestlers of the Week for Week 7

BY BRANT PARSONS — Even though it is the busiest time of the regular season, we haven’t forgotten about letting you pick our Wrestler of the Week.

Here are the nominations to choose from for the Reader’s Choice Wrestler of the Week.

This week’s nominations

Girls

Ailee Briggs (Lemon Bay): Scored a sudden victory win over Kailani Barrientos in a 1 vs. 2 battle at Hernando.

Emari Brown (Harmony): The Longhorn senior stayed sharp with a retribution win over Apopka's Jada Jones, who had given her only loss on the season.

Keana Bush (Hudson): Earned another tourney win with a finals victory over the No. 2 wrestler in the weight class.

Alexia Davis (McKeel): Tallied two upset wins in taking first place at the Lady Bear Classic.

Abby Dicenzo (Bell Creek): Earned her first win of the season over Jasmine Serrano and beat two Top 8 wrestlers.

Rachel Silva (Florida Christian): The Rusted Jade champion defeated two Top 6 wrestlers this weekend.

Gabriele Tedesco (Lake Gibson): Defeated two ranked boys to win the title at Ed Kilpatrick IBT.

Boys

Jerome Baker (Lincoln): Went into the weekend unranked and knocked off the #2 and #15 wrestlers in this weight class while going 5-0 at the Trojan Invitational.

Gavin Balmeceda (South Dade): Willie White had two wins over Balmeceda coming into the week and the Bucs senior was able to get this revenge with a win in the region duals semifinal.

Kendrick Hodge (Somerset): Earned a pin in the final match to complete #1 Somerset's 30-29 comeback win over #2 Mater Lakes in the region semifinal.

Makendy Jean (Golden Gate): Won the Jerry Mita Invitational with a win in the final against another Top 10 wrestler.

Nathan Lyttle (Harmony): Won his fourth consecutive tournament with some upset wins and helped lead the Longhorns back to the state duals tournament for the first time since 2019.

Jordan Mukaddam (Fleming Island): He went 9-0 this season, help leading the Eagles to the region duals final and a Billy Saylor Duals title.

Topher Pearson (Suwannee): Was undefeated at the Billy Saylor Duals and helped lead the Bulldogs to the region finals in the state duals series.
