50 notable upsets from Week 7

BY BRANT PARSONS — We set the state duals brackets this past week and then saw a weekend where nearly every team was in action. It led to a lot of results to comb over - and a healthy number of big wins on the mat.

We’ve compiled a list of “upsets” from this past weekend based on the Kabra Wrestling rankings.

These are a small selection of big wins that have taken place since we last updated the rankings and would be considered upsets by Kabra Wrestling. We didn’t get them all, but we tried to get as many notables ones as we could.

When the new rankings come out, these likely will no longer appear as upsets, and later in the season, they may really not look like upsets - but for now, let’s look at some of the shockers for Week 7.

135: #2 Ailee Briggs (Lemon Bay) dec. #1 Kailani Barrientos (Oakleaf) SV-1 6-4

This 1 vs. 2 matchup did not disappoint with the wrestlers going to sudden victory before Briggs prevailed.

165: #1-157 Gavin Balmeceda (South Dade) dec. #1-165 Willie White (SW Miami) 6-4
