New wrestling classifications expected in the fall
BY BRANT PARSONS — New FHSAA classifications for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 wrestling seasons are expected to be released in the fall.
FHSAA wrestling administrator Corey Sobers told Kabra Wrestling on Thursday that the new classifications should be expected in late September or October.
The classifications are being changed this season after having been updated last year. The FHSAA decided in March 2020 to do a single-year only reclassification for the 2021-22 school year, citing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new two-year classifications have been released for fall sports but the FHSAA will wait on the winter sports as they are not making member schools make winter sports declarations until closer to the winter season starting.
