60 first-round upsets at the FHSAA state wrestling tournament

BY BRANT PARSONS — The best weekend of the season began with a bang with upsets taking place all over the arena floor.

We’ve compiled a list of “upsets” from the first round based on our official Kabra Wrestling rankings and would be considered upsets by Kabra Wrestling. .

When state tournament is over, these likely will no longer appear as upsets, — but for now, let’s look at some of the shockers from Thursday afternoon.

Class 3A: Yi Sanchez knocks off No. 2 Bonney

In one of the biggest shockers of the first round, Kissimmee Osceola’s David Yi Sanchez knocked off Miami Palmetto’s Drake Bonney 9-5 in the first round of the 165-pound weight class.
