What we got right — and wrong — with our state tournament predictions
BY BRANT PARSONS — Well it’s time to look back at Kabra Wrestling’s pre-state predictions and see how we did.
We’ve gone through each of the picks and compared them to what happened in Kissimmee. In the interest of time, they’ve been broken down into numbers rather than go into every individual pick we “got wrong.”

So the focus is on:
Total champions picked
Total finalists picked
Total placers picked
Total placers picked with wild card (Wrestlers who could prove wrong)
Total placers completely missed

For those that really love the numbers:
Kabra Wrestling picked 44 of the 56 champions on the weekend correctly for a 78.6% score.
Of the 112 finalists, we correctly prognosticated 83 of them. That was good for a 74.1%.
Of the 448 placers over the weekend, we listed 359 of them placing, meaning 80.1% of Kabra’s predicted placers ended up on the podium. If you include our “could prove me wrong” as wildcards, we listed 398 of 448 placers. That’s 88.8%
And for picking the exact spot each wrestler would place, Kabra Wrestling correctly spotted 139 wrestlers on the podium. That’s 31.0%.
A few more notes
Before we begin to show each classification’s breakdown, we had one perfect weight class.
In Class 2A, we correctly picked all eight placers in the 144-pound weight class. We looked back at our bracket, and we only missed one pick in the entire weight class (it was a consolation first rounder).
In six weight classes, all eight placers were picked. The worst number for a weight class was 5-of-8 placers picked - that happened 10 times.
