Vote for your Reader’s Choice Wrestler of the Week

BY BRANT PARSONS — It’s that time of the week, vote for your Reader’s Choice Wrestler of the Week.

The nominees

Jaiden Oliver (SW Miami): Made his return to the mat this past weekend at the FAWA freestyle and Greco state and made the finals for both freestyle and Greco junior 144 division pulling off a big upset over Jayden Bowles in the quarterfinals of freestyle and beating him again in Greco semi finals and gave Jayce Paridon a close match in the Greco finals.

Raymond Shaw (Auburndale): They deserve to be wrestler of the week because after not qualifying for state due to him needing to beat the two state finalist and going out in the blood rounds he did not let that set him back. Instead he took control of the offseason and became a Poseidon All-American, Greco and Freestyle state championship, and preparing for Summer Slam, Megatron, Disney Duals, and Fargo.

Joslyn Johnson (Flagler Palm Coast): Joslyn (ranked 27th nationally at 100lbs) competed at Spartan Nationals beating national champ Mariah Mills (winning 11-0 tech) during the finals in the Junior girls and placing her at 1st for this tournament ultimately qualifying her for the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals (Fargo). In the semifinals, Joslyn also avenged her loss against Beyoncé Espinosa winning 14-1 (tech). As she is the 2024 100lbs folkstyle and 115lbs freestyle state champ she is working towards a national championship win and is looking forward to becoming an All American at Fargo.

Kha’liyah Delva (Fort Pierce Central): Won 145lb FAWA Freestyle title, by pinning state runner-up Emma Hoppe in the finals.

Emma Bauknight (Hernando): Beat the number one girl at 115, and qualified for Fargo for the 3rd year in a row. Went 5-1 in spartan duals only defeat was to a 2 time Fargo champ and NY state champion

Isabella McFarlane (King): After knocking off the No. 3 girl in the state to win the FAWA 16U title, she pinned No. 2 in the duals.

Sayuri Cáceres (Lincoln): She is an amazing person and wrestler she’s always there and she’s super supportive and she tries her hardest no matter what it is. She is one to never give up and always fight no matter how small she may be, and she’s an awesome teammate and friend.
