Semifinals: Gabriel Tellez (#8-3A) vs. Evan Martinez (#10-3A); Sebastian Degennaro vs. Josh Hartley (#14-3A)

What happened: Tellez, a sophomore at SW Miami, spent a total of 2 minutes and 51 seconds on the mat in his three wins on Saturday. He’ll face the Orlando Freedom junior Martinez in the first semifinal on Sunday morning. Martinez did not give up a point on Saturday. Degennaro, a freshman at Jensen Beach, was dominant in his four matches to reach the semifinals and he’ll face Hartley, a Palm Harbor University senior, who defeated three Top 11-ranked wrestlers to reach the final four.

Semifinals: Tyler Washburn (#1-3A) vs. Luis Acevedo (#7-3A); Gavin Nolan vs. Kevin Placer (#1-3A)

What happened: Defending state champion Washburn had little trouble reaching the semifinals. The Palmetto Ridge junior will face South Dade sophomore Acevedo, who scored a thrilling win in the quarterfinals with a winning takedown coming with 26 seconds left. Nolan, who is back wrestling after taking a year off, is a freshman at Clearwater Central Catholic and beat second-ranked Matthew Velasco 4-2 in the quarterfinals. He’ll face the second-seeded Placer, who did not give up a point on Saturday.

Semifinals: Ryan Phillips (#5-2A) vs. Colin Kacena; Tamarion Kendrick (#9-3A) vs. Jonathan Hudson (#6-1A)

What happened: One of the deepest weight classes this weekend did not disappoint on the mat. Phillips rallied from a 7-3 deficit to knock off top-seeded Tabor 8-4 in the quarterfinals with a takedown and back exposure with 20 seconds to go. The Winter Springs sophomore will face Lake Highland Prep’s Kacena in the semifinals. Kendrick, an Apopka junior, beat two Top 6 wrestlers to advance to face Cardinal Gibbons’ Hudson. The junior outscored Ethan Vugman 11-2 in their quarterfinal match after falling behind 4-0.

Semifinals: Russell Raabe (#2-3A) vs. William McArdle (#10-3A); Blaine Taranto (#3-3A) vs. Lowden Ward (#13-2A)

What happened: It will be a meeting of Fort Pierce Central teammates in the semifinals with top-seeded Raabe going against McArdle. In the bottom half of the bracket, Taranto will face unseeded Ward. The Venice junior Taranto won three matches while the Dixie Hollins junior faced four opponents on Saturday to reach the semis.

Semifinals: Cooper Haase (#1-3A) vs. Colson Elliott (#5-2A); Sean-Michael Gonzalez (#2-3A) vs. Aaron Lanster (#1-3A)

What happened: Haase put on a takedown clinic on Saturday, scoring 28 two-point moves while going 4-0 and reaching the semifinals. The Kissimmee Osceola junior will face Elliott, the Gulf Breeze junior methodically worked his way through the bracket on Saturday. The bottom half of the bracket will feature a semifinal that might be one of the most anticipated on Sunday morning. Lanster and Gonzalez are 1-2 in Kabra Wrestling rankings. Gonzalez, a senior at North Port, won one of the most exciting matches of Saturday when he scored four points in the final seconds to top Luis Bazan 8-6. Lanster was dominant in his three appearances on Saturday, winning two by fall and one by a major decision as the Miami Beach junior only gave up a single point.

Semifinals: Gianni Maldonado (#3-2A) vs. Grant O’Dell; Ronald Theilacker (#1-1A) vs. Nikolas Hernandez (#4-3A)

What happened: Maldonado had a comfortable day to reach the semifinals. The Brandon sophomore secured three pins and a decision to reach the semifinals where he will face O’Dell. Theilacker, the third-seed, didn’t have an offensive point scored on him while going 4-0. The Palm Bay junior will meet Riverview senior Hernandez in a loaded semi. Hernandez scored three decisions in his four wins, including a 6-3 victory over second-seed Elivs Solis to set up the meeting.

Semifinals: Alexander Soto (#3-3A) vs. Julian Rocha (#11-3A); Albert Manzini (#18-3A) vs. Gavin Balmeceda (#3-3A)

What happened: Soto and Diego Peralta had one of the best quarterfinal matches with the Riverdale junior scoring the decision takedown on a single-leg to break a 4-4 deadlock. He’ll face Braddock senior Rocha who also won his quarters bout by decision. The unseeded Manzini scored four wins by pin and the Doral Academy junior will meet South Dade sophomore Balmeceda, who scored a major decision win in the quarters over Hayden Reeves.

Semifinals: Alex Couto (#2-3A) vs. Adrian Ochoa (#7-3A); Lawrence Rosario (#4-2A) vs. Kendrick Hodge (#4-1A)

What happened: South Dade and SW Miami meet in the semifinals with state champion Couto and Ochoa meeting up. Couto won his first three matches in 1:58 total time and then won a battle with Aiden Moore. Ochoa scored the win in overtime after Nathan Furman rallied with a takedown and three nearfall points in the final 16 seconds to force overtime.

Semifinals: Konlin Weaver vs. Vincent Donatelle (#5-3A); Roman Garcia (#2-3A) vs. Cordell White (#3-3A)

What happened: Weaver had an epic battle in the quarterfinals with Manatee’s Erik Borresen, needing a takedown with one second left to force overtime, before getting the 5-3 win in double OT. Donatelle knocked off fourth-seeded Davis Deal in the quarterfinals with a win by fall after trailing 4-1 early on. The bottom of the bracket features a meeting between Nos. 2-3 in Kabra Rankings with Palmetto Ridge’s Garcia and South Dade’s White. Garcia edged Winter Springs’ Elijah Penton 2-1 in the quarters while White scored three pins in three matches.

Semifinals: Dominic Rodriguez (#1-3A) vs. Riley Orr (#4-3A); Frank Solorzano (#2-2A) vs. Dalton Loyden (Arizona)

What happened: Rodriguez put on a takedown show in his three matches to reach the semifinals where the Riverdale senior will meet Ft. Pierce Central’s Riley Orr. Orr had two first period falls and a dominating technical fall on his day. Lake Gibson junior Solorzano was 4-0 on the day while not allowing a single offensive point and will face Arizona’s Loyden.

Semifinals: Dylan Deal (#2-2A) vs. Ranson Coons (#4-3A); Cory Cannan (#2-2A) vs. Josiah Jenkins (#7-2A)

What happened: The Winter Springs senior navigated his way through three matches and will face Lakewood Ranch senior Coons. Coons outscored Achilles Rocha 7-1 in the final two periods of their quarterfinal match. Cannan dominated his three matches on the bottom half of the bracket to set up a meeting for the Barron Collier senior with Tampa Jesuit senior Jenkins. The second-seeded Jenkins beat Kyle Grey 8-3 in a tightly-contested quarter final.

Semifinals: Chris Greil (#2-3A) vs. Cole Tolley (#8-3A); Thomas D’Avanzo (CFWA) vs. Gabriel Thomas (#7-2A)

What happened: Top-seeded Greil didn’t give up a point in his two matches and the Palm Harbor University senior will face Sickles senior Tolley. Tolley beat fourth-seeded Branden Marrero in the quarters. D’Avanzo will meet Palmetto senior Gabriel Thomas in the other semifinal. Thomas scored two pins before a solid 7-1 win over Sebastian Macaulay.

Semifinals: Morvens Saint Jean (#3-3A) vs. Jomar Sanchez; Beau Higginbotham vs. Ralph Sanchez (#3-3A)

What happened: Fort Myers senior Saint Jean won both of his matches by pin to reach the semis where he will face Kissimmee Osceola junior Sanchez. Sanchez topped Jared Campbell 8-4 in the quarters. Higginbotham also won his quarters by an 8-4 margin. The Senior from Dunbar will face the Apopka senior after he pinned both of his opponents.

Champion: Garrett Tyre

What happened: Tyre defeated Cane Fernandez 7-1 in what decided the heavyweight division. There were just three big men compete, Tyre defeated Landon Jones by fall in his other match. Fernandez also pinned Jones to finish second.
