You pick: Who are this week’s Reader’s Choice Wrestlers of the Week?

BY BRANT PARSONS — Each week during the season, Kabra Wrestling will continue to pick its Team of the Week, but this season, we are adding another recognition - Wrestler of the Week. The boys and girls winner each week will be determined by a reader vote.

Readers will be able to vote for both a boys and girls wrestler. The winner will be announced on Thursday on Kabra Wrestling and each winner will receive a keychain to commemorate their choice.

This week’s nominations

Won perhaps the most highly-anticipated wrestling match of the weekend (for us at least) in a 1 vs. 2 battle at Chase Life Duals.

Kaleb Gabrielsen (Heritage)

Pinned the number two ranked Class 1A wrestler in the championship round at the Barbara Pill memorial.

Gunner Holland (Osceola)

Nationally-ranked Holland knocked off the third-ranked national prep wrestler in the semifinals and then beat the No. 19 wrestler in the final of the Clash of Titans.

Pinned the top-ranked wrestler at 113 pounds in Class 3A in the H-Town Throwdown final.

Draven McCall (Tampa Jesuit)

The defending Class 2A state champion beat two-time Class 1A state champ in the final of the Ben Richards Memorial.

David Mercado (North Bay Haven)

Last year's state champion rolled through a top-two matchup in the finals at Cam Brown Classic.

Willie White (Southwest Miami)

One of two surprise winners, to us, for SW Miami at the H-Town Throwdown, topping last year's third place finisher and 2nd-ranked Class 3A wrestler in the final.

Kailani Barrientos (Oakleaf)

Opened up her season with a championship at the Lady Clash with a win over a Top 4 wrestler in the championship round.

After a successful trip representing Puerto Rico at the U15 Pan American Championships, she beat a Top 10 wrestler in the final of the Ben Richards.

Jasmine Serrano (Springstead)

Defeated two Top 4 wrestlers on her way to winning the Lady Bash at Sunlake.

Won the rematch of last year's state final in a 1 vs. 2 battle at the Lady Clash of Titans.
