Three matches to watch in Monday’s girls district tournament

BY BRANT PARSONS — The girls postseason starts on Monday with a sole district tournament taking place in Bradenton.

We’ve compiled a list of matches we’d like to see if we were attending each district tournament this week.

Check out the entire FHSAA girls postseason schedule and results here.

As always, there is no guarantee these matches will take place, we just feel that if they did, it would make an exciting week even better.

Rankings are taken from the latest official Kabra Wrestling Individual Rankings which are released every Tuesday throughout the year.

Locations and times from the FHSAA calendar and are subject to change without notice.

Girls 1A-11at Bradenton Christian, 3 p.m.

110: #14 Isabella Hull (North Fort Myers) vs. #18 Aubrey Ard (Booker)

When the two met during the season, it was Hull coming out on top in a 7-5 squeaker.

130: #12 Solana McCaughen (North Port) vs. #16 Alyssa Doolittle (North Fort Myers) vs. #18 Taylor Miranda (Cape Coral)

Doolittle pinned Miranda in the LCAC final this past weekend. Any of these three could win a district title.

135: #7 Melanie Lamb (North Fort Myers) vs. #9 Bailey Beechler (North Port)

The favorite in this weight class is Lemon Bay’s Ailee Briggs, but the one to watch would be a potential semifinal between these two. Lamb has won both meetings this season, and one of them was by just two points.
