Florida High School Wrestling History
With the help of Ryland Wagner, Kabra Wrestling is working to archive results from the sport’s history in the FHSAA.
As time permits, this page will be updated. It would not be possible without the tireless work from Mr. Wagner to make this happen and the cooperation of the Florida High School Athletics Association.
Miami Norland edges Hialeah in the first-ever FHSAA state wrestling tournament. The tournament’s outstanding wrestler was Coral Gables’ Howie Hyman.
Miami Norland wins its second state wrestling title with Miami Coral Park edging Archbishop Curley by a single point for second place.
Coral Park wins its first state title with five individual wrestlers earning top honors. Curley and Miami Norland completed the Top 3 in the team standings.
Miami Norland won the school’s third state title in four years.
The FHSAA is missing the 1968 state tournament. It will be added when/if found.
Miami Carol City wins the state title by 11 points over Fort Lauderdale. This is the first year we have state brackets and district qualifiers.
Miami Carol City won another team state title, outscoring runners-up Miami Palmetto by 20 points to take home the crown.
Stranahan won the team state title by seven points over hosts Rockledge.
Stranahan wins another state team with four individual state champions. Coming in second is James Husk-coached Southwest.
Miami Coral Park topped the final team standings ahead of Manatee and Miami Palmetto.
Miami Palmetto wins the state title with a two-point cushion over runner-up Miami Coral Park. Brandon finished third under James Graves.
Stranahan topped Miami Palmetto by three points to win the team title.
